Instructional Assessment

Process for Course-Level Assessment

Before and During the Semester

  • Review the course learning outcomes on your course's Course Outline of Record. You can find all CORs using eLumen.
  • Consider contacting other instructors teaching this course to discuss past course assessments and strategies for perform the current semester's assessments. 
  •  by choosing your division folder and then your discipline folder. 
  • Conduct assessment in your course(s).

By the End of the Semester

Please wait until Week 12 to complete your course assessment reports in eLumen.

  • Fall reports due in eLumen by December 30.
  • Spring reports due in eLumen by July 1.

Assessment Process

Before the Semester

Review the learning outcomes, plans, and past assessments for your program

  • .
  • Familiarize yourself with available assessment resources (below).
  • Determine who to collaborate with on assessment activities.

Conduct assessment and meet with colleagues if appropriate for coordination

  • Perform assessment: gather data, tabulate and analyze the results.
  • Meet with colleagues who you have shared and division outcomes with. For programs with shared outcomes there should be coordinated assessment.

End of Semester

Assessment Reports, Dialogue, and Schedules

For instructional programs, all course learning outcomes and all program outcomes should be assessed in a 3-year cycle.  Course level assessment results and dialogue are used to facilitate program outcome assessment.  Program outcome assessment facilitates program improvement through dialogue and Program Review Plans.  Student Services approach assessment through data collection, dialogue, and planning via Program Review.   Below you will find links to course assessment and program assessment schedules as well as course level and program level assessment reports.
